The mini literature review explored various literature sources on corporate parenting styles (CPS) and discussed them in the context of higher education institutions. The key phrase “corporate parenting style” was used to search for literature on Google Scholar. The retrieved articles were then analysed for article type, publisher, author publishing rate, and publishing trend as measured by publications in each year. 13 articles were successfully retrieved using the search criteria. Of these 8 (61.5%) were journal articles, 4 (30.8%) were working papers, and 1 (7.7%) was a conference proceeding. The publisher responsible for the most publications (37.5%) on CSP was Progress in International Business Research, with the other 5 publishers sharing the balance equally. The National Research University Higher School of Economics published 50% of the working papers retrieved in this study. The only conference proceeding retrieved was published by The Institute for Business and Finance Research. The most prolific and active author on CPS was Gurkov who authored five (5) articles consisting of journal articles (2), and working papers (3). The most active years of CPS research were 2015, 2018, and 2013 with 4, 3, and 2 publications respectively. The findings indicate that CPS research may be in its infancy, which may warrant more research especially given the ever-present desire of local business entities to expand beyond their domestic markets. This is especially true for institutions of higher education in Africa desiring regional and international footprint.
